Why use Sage Intacct?

  • Prevent Stockouts: In our analysis, Sage Intacct scored a perfect 100 for inventory management capabilities. It lets you import thousands of items at once, track what’s on hand across warehouses and get alerts before your shelves run empty.
  • Gain Financial Insights: Sage scored 96 for tools that help you see who owes you money, which bills are overdue and where your budget is off track. You can even schedule reports to arrive in your inbox automatically, so you always have the right numbers without sorting through spreadsheets.
  • Reduce Accounting Mistakes: Sage Intacct provides built-in balance sheets, cash flow, profit and loss, and trial balance reports. If something doesn’t add up — like a missing entry or mismatched debits and credits — you can spot it immediately and correct it before closing.

Synopsis of User Ratings and Reviews

Based on an aggregate of Sage Intacct reviews taken from the sources above, the following pros & cons have been curated by a SelectHub Market Analyst.

Pros

  • Flexible Accounting Setup: Users liked that Sage Intacct lets them customize dimensions, fields and workflows, making it adaptable for different departments, projects and multi-entity setups.
  • Reliable Audit Trails: Accountants appreciated that the system logs each transaction with user details and timestamps.
  • Smooth Integrations: Users highlighted how well Sage Intacct connected with Salesforce, ADP, Rippling and Bill.com.

Cons

  • Reporting Difficulties: Many people said building and customizing reports is hard to learn, especially for non-technical users.
  • Usability Issues: Some users felt the system requires too many clicks and looks older compared to modern SaaS platforms.
  • Pricing Concerns: Rising subscription costs and steep renewal increases were a common frustration, especially for nonprofits and smaller organizations.

Researcher's Summary:

If you’ve ever tried to juggle multiple entities, currencies or projects in spreadsheets, you know how fast month-end turns into late nights and endless manual fixes. Sage Intacct is built to handle that without forcing you to build endless workarounds.

It performs especially well in core areas: inventory and tax management both scored 100/100 in our analysis. The GL automation tools help you catch duplicate entries, off-balance journals or simple errors, keeping your books in line so you don’t waste hours cleaning them up.

Beyond core accounting capabilities, Sage offers industry editions for construction, real estate and nonprofits. It also markets specialized modules for healthcare, education and even faith-based finance. For example, EMR-linked reporting in healthcare, a FACTS integration for K-12 schools, and diocesan savings/loans management for churches.

On Reddit, finance leaders praised Sage Intacct’s multi-entity reporting and the Salesforce integration — apparently, it makes order-to-cash much smoother. But many others had sharper critiques. Pricing is often called opaque, with one buyer reporting a quote close to $100,000 per year with no clear breakdown. A few companies even ripped out Intacct within months and switched to NetSuite instead.

Our software selection platform also flagged two sore spots. Mobile tools scored just 30/100, which means no native apps and limited functionality on the go. If you need to create invoices or track time from your phone, I’d recommend checking out Xero or Accounting Seed, both of which scored 100 and offer much stronger mobile access.

Accounts receivable scored 77/100, mainly because Sage Intacct doesn’t include credit notes or customer portals. For stronger AR, take a look at QuickBooks Online, which covers notes and portals out of the box.

Bottom Line: Sage Intacct is best for growing and mid-sized organizations that need compliance, tax management and scalability at the core of their finance system. If mobile access or global invoicing are non-negotiable for you, you should consider other systems.

Key Features

  • Intelligent General Ledger: Sage AI, built into Intacct, updates your books instantly and scans entries for errors like an extra zero turning $50,000 into $500,000. You can tag transactions by department, project or location to see where your money’s going without creating new accounts. And if you’re juggling multiple entities or currencies, the system automatically consolidates the books and converts the amounts for you.
  • Accounts Payable: The AI tool spots duplicate invoices so you don’t accidentally pay the same bill twice. Upload vendor bills or if one arrives by email, send it to Intacct’s AP inbox. The system fills in the vendor details automatically, then routes the bill to the right manager for approval.
  • Accounts Receivable: Set up recurring invoices for things like monthly utility bills. If you need to bill several customers at once, upload their information from a spreadsheet instead of creating each invoice manually. When you connect a processor such as Authorize.net or PayPal, the system records payments directly in AR and automatically matches them to the correct invoices.
  • Cash Management: Gain a real-time view of all your bank accounts — checking, savings and credit cards — across every location. Transfer money between accounts — for example, moving funds from operating to payroll — without leaving the system.
  • Sage Copilot: The system sends you alerts when spending goes over budget, shows which month-end close tasks (like reconciling cash) are still open and even flags mismatches between your general ledger and subledgers. You can also ask questions in plain English like “Which departments overspent last month?” and get instant answers instead of manually building or checking reports.
  • Purchasing: Manage the entire procure-to-pay process in one place. You can create requisitions, purchase orders and returns using built-in templates, then automatically route them for approval.
  • Dashboards and Reporting: Build custom role-based dashboards using drag-and-drop tools. Filter by department, drill into the details behind a chart, and add visuals like graphs or trend lines to spot changes quickly. Reports update in real time and work on mobile, so you always have the latest numbers on hand.

Approach to Common Accounting Challenges

  • Slow Bank Reconciliation: The Association of College Unions International reduced its reconciliation time from five hours to just five minutes by using Intacct’s bank reconciliation and AP approval workflows through its Nexonia integration.
  • Lengthy Month-End Close: The Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau shortened its close from up to 10 days to less than 3 days by using revenue recognition and journal entry tools.
  • Limited Visibility Across Entities: With Intacct’s AI-driven AP automation, dimensional reporting and real-time dashboards, Greenidge’s executives gained daily visibility into cash reconciliations, balance sheets and P&Ls across all plants and business units.

Testimonials

We’re growing at a rapid pace, so we need a scalable solution that is affordable to us now and can flex to fit us as we get larger.

As a nonprofit, we don't have the luxury of a large staff or IT budget. We found Intacct to be superior for its depth of functionality, support for fund accounting, overall flexibility, and automation capabilities.

When our team went in search of a new accounting solution, we were looking for cloud-based options that would be more scalable, flexible, and intuitive for our teams around the world. Sage Intacct was a no-brainer for us because, unlike NetSuite and the other vendors we looked at, it met all of our requirements for integrated time and expense management, and Multi-entity & global consolidations. It was robust and adaptable enough to grow with our business over time.

Sage Intacct offers flexibility, ease of use, and the ability to see where we are financially at any point in time with instant consolidations, and reporting capabilities that are outstanding—those are the things that are key for us. My time is now freer to work on investing funds rather than tracking them.

It's really nice for us to be able to log in and instantly search for whatever you need. Now we have 40 bank accounts, all of which are linked, in real-time. All the transactions come over daily. What's really nice about it is, we actually can have real-time, daily, cash understanding.

Before we made the switch, we were using archaic software that had been heavily customized, was costly to maintain, and wasn’t integrated. It was clear that we needed a new, more robust financial system that could sync with our payment portal in real-time to eliminate duplicate data entry and manual work. We looked at both NetSuite and Sage Intacct, and ultimately chose Sage Intacct because it offered sophisticated multi-entity ERP functionality in the cloud, as well as proven integrations with partner solutions like 2CP’s customer payment portal.

Every time we encounter a complexity, we quickly find there’s a way to solve it with Sage Intacct. If we have to accommodate consolidations with 10 layers of partnerships, we don’t worry about whether Sage Intacct can handle it because it’s so easy to use.

Sage Intacct has given us the ability to better forecast the business and focus on a go-forward strategy, rather than ‘here and now.’ I couldn’t have done that with NetSuite.
