## What Is Dynamics 365 Sales?

**Industry Specialties:** Automotive, Government, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Financial Services, Retail

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales is an all-around CRM solution within the broader Dynamics 365 ecosystem. It stands out for its deep integration with Microsoft's productivity suite and AI capabilities through Microsoft Copilot.

Key strengths include integrated communication channels that connect Teams, email and SMS in one interface, keyword tracking for call intelligence, opportunity management across multiple pipelines and customizable product catalogs. It also excels at report generation, forecasting and workflow automation through Power Automate. Mobile functionality is extensive, with most desktop features available on iOS and Android apps.

Dynamics 365 Sales is primarily suited for mid-size to enterprise organizations, particularly those already invested in the Microsoft ecosystem. Businesses with complex sales processes, multiple product lines or sales teams with 10+ members can benefit most from its extensive customization options.

User feedback highlights the system’s customization capabilities, feature set and integration with the Microsoft ecosystem. However, many have reported the system's slow performance, unintuitive interface and steep learning curve.

Pricing starts at $65 per user per month (billed annually), placing it as a premium solution next to competitors like [Salesforce Sales Cloud](https://www.selecthub.com/p/crm-software/salesforce-sales-cloud/), [Oracle Sales Cloud](https://www.selecthub.com/p/crm-software/oracle-sales-cloud/) and [SAP Sales Cloud](https://www.selecthub.com/p/sales-force-automation-software/sap-sales-cloud/). Beyond Microsoft's own apps like Teams, Outlook and Power BI, Dynamics integrates with third-party tools such as [Tableau](https://www.selecthub.com/p/business-intelligence-tools/tableau/), [Mailchimp](https://www.selecthub.com/p/marketing-automation-software/mailchimp/), [ActiveCampaign](https://www.selecthub.com/p/marketing-automation-software/activecampaign/), [Slack](https://www.selecthub.com/p/collaboration-software-tools/slack/) and [Zoom](https://www.selecthub.com/p/business-phone-systems/zoom/).

### Synopsis of User Ratings and Reviews

Based on an aggregate of Dynamics 365 Sales reviews taken from the sources above, the following pros & cons have been curated by a SelectHub Market Analyst.

#### Pros

* **Integrations:** Dynamics 365 Sales seamlessly connects with other Microsoft products, including Power BI, Azure and Office 365, creating a unified system for your operations.
* **Customization:** The CRM offers extensive customization options, including Microsoft Power Apps support, personalized dashboards, custom reports and workflows.
* **Lead Tracking:** It allows sales teams to monitor lead progression from initial contact to conversion with detailed activity logs and engagement insights.

**What Users Like**

* **Analytics:** “Dynamics 365 is reliable when it comes to analytics. It integrates with Power BI, allowing for incredibly detailed reporting and data visualization” - [Stephen Do](https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephendo88/), Shopify Partner and Founder of [UpPromote](https://uppromote.com/)
* **Integrations:** “If your team already works with Outlook, Teams and Power BI, it connects everything smoothly. Emails, meetings and deal updates sync automatically, which saves a ton of time.” - [Nirav Chheda](https://www.linkedin.com/in/nchheda/), Co-Founder and CEO at [Bambi NEMT](https://www.hibambi.com/)

#### Cons

* **Performance Issues:** The system occasionally experiences slowdowns that can impact workflow during peak usage periods.
* **User Interface:** The complex interface with multiple options and views makes navigation difficult for new users trying to locate specific features or information.
* **Learning Curve:** Due to its extensive feature set and customization options, users require significant training time to become proficient with the platform.

**What Users Dislike**

* **Business Size:** “This isn’t a plug-and-play CRM for Shopify merchants looking to get started quickly. It’s for businesses that already have a structured sales team, need advanced automation and have the resources to build out custom workflows. If your store is at the Shopify Plus level and you need a system that ties into broader business operations, Dynamics 365 can be great. But for smaller merchants, it might feel like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.” - Stephen Do, Shopify Partner and Founder of UpPromote
* **User Interface:** “The UI could use some improvements — it’s functional, but not as smooth or modern as some of the newer CRMs out there.” - Nirav Chheda, Co-Founder and CEO at Bambi NEMT

#### Researcher's Summary:

After testing Dynamics 365 Sales, I have mixed feelings about this CRM. Setting up the free trial was challenging. Since Dynamics 365 is an expansive ecosystem, configuring the environment and assigning user roles and permissions was complicated.

On the positive side, the Microsoft ecosystem integration is seamless. The platform connects easily with Teams, Outlook and other Microsoft tools, creating a unified working environment. Copilot, Microsoft's AI assistant, is quite helpful – it summarizes records, schedules meetings and makes information more accessible.

For businesses considering Dynamics 365 Sales, [EPAM](https://www.epam.com/)’s experience offers a real-world example. With over 50,000 employees across 55 countries, they switched from an outdated on-premises Dynamics CRM to Dynamics 365 Sales to unite their global sales team.

Previously only 70% of teams used the system, while others relied on disconnected tools like Jira and HubSpot, making it hard to track sales funnels. After going live in June 2023 with 600 trained users, EPAM adopted Microsoft Copilot for Sales, reducing administrative tasks and giving reps more time for customer interactions — leading to early improvements in sales outcomes.

You can customize the system to handle most business requirements, though this often requires technical expertise. For large enterprises with IT resources, this flexibility is valuable.

Cost-effectiveness varies greatly by organization size. For companies with fewer than 5,000 contacts, the difference between Dynamics 365 and more affordable CRMs may not justify the premium price. The licensing structure is also notoriously complex, often requiring guidance from certified partners.

Technical glitches were unfortunately common throughout my testing. For example, the Email Engagement feature was missing from the desktop version but accessible through the mobile app. This inconsistency was confusing.

The system runs noticeably slow, with considerable lag when switching between tabs or accessing different workspaces. For a premium-priced solution, this was particularly disappointing.

At first glance, the user interface appears simple and clean. In reality, many functions are hidden within nested menus, making navigation problematic. The learning curve is steep, likely requiring extensive training to fully implement the platform's capabilities.

I noticed some practical limitations as well. There's no built-in reminder option for pending tasks, and duplicate leads occur frequently. Users report that customer support is difficult to access and slow to resolve issues, with the system apparently favoring certified implementation partners for support access.

Dynamics 365 Sales is a powerful but complicated CRM that’s ideal for larger organizations with technical resources and implementation partners. While it offers a variety of features and excellent Microsoft ecosystem integration, its performance issues, complex interface and setup difficulties make it less suitable if you run a smaller business or want an intuitive, out-of-the-box solution.

## Key Features

* **Reporting:** Using the Report Wizard functionality in Power Apps, you can generate detailed Fetch-based reports with charts and tables while easily configuring properties like report name and selected data rows. By integrating with Power BI, your reporting capabilities expand further, allowing the customization of process reports in an attached workspace.
* **Custom Apps:** It’s easy to build tailored business apps with Microsoft Power Apps, as it directly connects to data stored in Microsoft Dataverse or various online and on-premises data sources like Dynamics 365\. The intuitive design environment lets you create solutions without requiring extensive coding knowledge.
* **Workflow Rules:** By implementing Microsoft Power Automate, you can streamline your processes through various flow types — cloud flows that trigger automatically, desktop flows for repetitive task automation and business flows guiding users through predefined steps. Within these flows, you can define stages containing logical groups of steps representing data entry points.
* **Quotes and Order Management:** When converting quotes to orders with a single click, the system automatically transfers all contents to the order record while simultaneously closing the original quote for clean record-keeping. Whether creating quotes directly from opportunities with prefilled details or manually generating orders by specifying customer information and price list details, the entire process remains fluid and interconnected.
* **Sales Forecasting:** Through customizable forecast configurations based on revenue or quantity, you can define the forecast type, hierarchy, access permissions and specific details in the forecast grid for maximum relevance. After activation, your entire sales team gains visibility into revenue projections, quantity estimates and pipeline forecasts, with additional API options available for uploading specialized forecast data when needed.
* **Lead Management:** Through intelligent assignment rules, leads are automatically distributed to your sales team while being generated from multiple sources, such as website opt-in pages, email queries or imports from various file formats. As the system collects data, predictive lead scoring calculates scores based on historical information, prioritizing the most promising opportunities.
* **Mobile App:** The native iOS and Android apps keep you connected while on the go, allowing you to join customer meetings via Microsoft Teams and sync notes directly to relevant records. The app notifies you of important events while providing instant access to critical meeting information and contact details.

## See It in Action: Testing Enhanced Email Experience

Since Dynamics 365 scores high for its unified communication channels, I decided to test the Enhanced Email Experience feature. I wanted to try the Microsoft Teams integration, too, but it needs an organization-level license.

Finding my way around the free trial, I noticed right away how slow Dynamics is. Opening the trial account itself took several minutes to load completely. And it doesn't stop there — switching between tabs takes noticeable seconds each time and even longer when trying to access more complex sections like Workspace or Sequences. This sluggishness became a consistent theme throughout my testing experience.

For the Enhanced Email Experience test, I started by turning on all the features to make sure I could evaluate the complete functionality.

1\. In the bottom left corner, under **Sales**, I clicked **App Settings**.

![Dynamics 365 For Sales Screenshot 1](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dynamics-365-Sales-Free-Trial-2.jpg)

2\. In **App Settings**, under **Productivity tools**, I turned on **Enhanced email for timeline**.

![Dynamics 365 For Sales Screenshot 2](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dynamics-365-Sales-Free-Trial-3.jpg)

3\. Again, under **Sales**, I clicked **Sales Insights settings** and turned on **Email engagement**. All this setup to write and track a simple email seemed like too many steps.

![Dynamics 365 For Sales Screenshot 3](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dynamics-365-Sales-Free-Trial-4.jpg)

![Dynamics 365 For Sales Screenshot 4](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dynamics-365-Sales-Free-Trial-5.jpg)

4\. Enhanced Email Experience only works with emails created in the **Timeline** section of Dynamics records. So to test it further, I picked a contact from my list and added an email to their timeline.

![Dynamics 365 For Sales Screenshot 5](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dynamics-365-Sales-Free-Trial-6.jpg)

![Dynamics 365 For Sales Screenshot 6](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dynamics-365-Sales-Free-Trial-7.jpg)

The process wasn't smooth. While writing the email, I ran into a glitch where three floating windows completely froze on my screen! I had to refresh the page to continue, which didn't leave me with a great impression of stability.

![Dynamics 365 For Sales Screenshot 7](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dynamics-365-Sales-Free-Trial-15.jpg)

Next, I shifted gears and tried out Microsoft Copilot to see if AI assistance could improve the experience.

![Dynamics 365 For Sales Screenshot 8](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dynamics-365-Sales-Free-Trial-8.jpg)

It drafted a decent email, considering my simple prompt with no context. It also had options to further improve the draft if needed.

![Dynamics 365 For Sales Screenshot 9](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dynamics-365-Sales-Free-Trial-9.jpg)

![Dynamics 365 For Sales Screenshot 10](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dynamics-365-Sales-Free-Trial-10.jpg)

The system has ready-made email templates that are quite straightforward. For this test, however, I decided to stick with my Copilot draft.

![Dynamics 365 For Sales Screenshot 11](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dynamics-365-Sales-Free-Trial-11.jpg)

5\. When my draft was ready, I clicked **Send**.

![Dynamics 365 For Sales Screenshot 12](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dynamics-365-Sales-Free-Trial-12.jpg)

6\. The email showed up right away on the contact's **Timeline**.

![Dynamics 365 For Sales Screenshot 13](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dynamics-365-Sales-Free-Trial-13.jpg)

Copilot also has a **Highlights** feature that summarizes the entire activity timeline with key points. This could really help sales reps who contact leads one after another and need to quickly remember previous interactions without reading through everything.

![Dynamics 365 For Sales Screenshot 14](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dynamics-365-Sales-Free-Trial-14.jpg)

7\. Then, I opened the Dynamics mobile app to see how the changes appeared there. To my surprise, the app supported almost all the functions I tested on the desktop. Only a few CRM apps I've tried offer this level of feature parity between desktop and mobile versions.

![Dynamics 365 For Sales Screenshot 15](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dynamics-365-Sales-Free-Trial-16.jpg)![Dynamics 365 For Sales Screenshot 16](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dynamics-365-Sales-Free-Trial-17.jpg)

![Dynamics 365 For Sales Screenshot 17](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dynamics-365-Sales-Free-Trial-18.jpg)

What surprised me even more was the **Email Engagement** section in the app. It gives you personalized suggestions based on your contact's email activities to help improve your email communication. Oddly enough, I couldn't find this feature in the desktop version — it could be another glitch.

![Dynamics 365 For Sales Screenshot 18](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Dynamics-365-Sales-Free-Trial-19.jpg)

And yes, the "Compare plans" pop-up followed me everywhere in the app like an eager salesperson. That is understandable since I was using a free trial.

Dynamics 365 Sales has strong email tools with helpful AI assistance through Copilot, though the setup process and navigation could definitely be more straightforward and intuitive.

"description": "Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales is an all-around CRM solution within the broader Dynamics 365 ecosystem. It stands out for its deep integration with Microsoft's productivity suite and AI capabilities through Microsoft Copilot.Key strengths include integrated communication channels that connect Teams, email and SMS in one interface, keyword tracking for call intelligence, opportunity management across multiple pipelines and customizable product catalogs. It also excels at report generation, forecasting and workflow automation through Power Automate. Mobile functionality is extensive, with most desktop features available on iOS and Android apps.Dynamics 365 Sales is primarily suited for mid-size to enterprise organizations, particularly those already invested in the Microsoft ecosystem. Businesses with complex sales processes, multiple product lines or sales teams with 10+ members can benefit most from its extensive customization options.User feedback highlights the system’s customization capabilities, feature set and integration with the Microsoft ecosystem. However, many have reported the system's slow performance, unintuitive interface and steep learning curve.Pricing starts at $65 per user per month (billed annually), placing it as a premium solution next to competitors like Salesforce Sales Cloud, Oracle Sales Cloud and SAP Sales Cloud. Beyond Microsoft's own apps like Teams, Outlook and Power BI, Dynamics integrates with third-party tools such as Tableau, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Slack and Zoom. Our Research Process for Dynamics 365 SalesI took a hands-on approach by signing up for the free trial and installing the mobile app. I also gathered insights from user reviews on G2 and Capterra and interviewed actual users of the platform. To round out my understanding, I examined case studies, analyzed comparative CRM data from our selection platform, and watched product demos and tutorials. This approach helped me evaluate the Dynamics 365 Sales’ performance across various business scenarios.",

"reviewBody": "After testing Dynamics 365 Sales, I have mixed feelings about this CRM. For businesses considering Dynamics 365 Sales, EPAM’s experience offers a real-world example. With over 50,000 employees across 55 countries, they switched from an outdated on-premises Dynamics CRM to Dynamics 365 Sales to unite their global sales team.Previously only 70% of teams used the system, while others relied on disconnected tools like Jira and HubSpot, making it hard to track sales funnels. For large enterprises with IT resources, this flexibility is valuable.Cost-effectiveness varies greatly by organization size. For companies with fewer than 5,000 contacts, the difference between Dynamics 365 and more affordable CRMs may not justify the premium price. The licensing structure is also notoriously complex, often requiring guidance from certified partners.Technical glitches were unfortunately common throughout my testing. The learning curve is steep, likely requiring extensive training to fully implement the platform's capabilities.I noticed some practical limitations as well. There's no built-in reminder option for pending tasks, and duplicate leads occur frequently. Users report that customer support is difficult to access and slow to resolve issues, with the system apparently favoring certified implementation partners for support access.Dynamics 365 Sales is a powerful but complicated CRM that’s ideal for larger organizations with technical resources and implementation partners. While it offers a variety of features and excellent Microsoft ecosystem integration, its performance issues, complex interface and setup difficulties make it less suitable if you run a smaller business or want an intuitive, out-of-the-box solution."
