On signing up, I got an instructor and a student account and a student-preview user I could add to the courses to pressure test them. ### 1\. First Impressions & Navigation **Ease of Use and Navigation** The interface felt intuitive, clean, and organized, but I missed the side pane once I clicked on my course (it disappeared from the screen). But, I liked that the tab options on this side pane have labels, something I miss when using Canvas. All blocks look the same size — whether it’s a learning module, a folder, or a discussion — so spotting hierarchy at a glance was tricky. Creating courses was flexible — I could copy content from other courses, build documents from scratch, or upload files, but Blackboard supports only JPG and PNG images. **Accessibility** Blackboard Ally made accessibility easy. It flagged content that could be improved, automatically generated alt text, offered aria-labels, and provided download options including Braille. **Navigation Depth** Accessing essential content — announcements, grades, and messages — took only a couple of clicks from the course page, which felt intuitive. ### 2\. AI Features & Tools The AI Design Assistant was my favorite tool. I could generate entire modules with lessons, tests, discussions, and images. After I provided a description and selected reference material, the AI created sample content I could accept or tweak.
