## What Is Starter Suite?

**Industry Specialties:** Serves all industries

Salesforce Starter Suite is designed for small to medium-sized businesses that need essential CRM tools without the complexity of full Salesforce implementations. This entry-level package helps integrate sales, service and marketing functions into one cohesive system.

The suite offers lead and opportunity management, contact management, email tools with built-in templates, customizable sales paths, campaign management, and even payment links. What sets it apart is its Salesforce Einstein AI capabilities, such as Einstein Activity Capture for automatic email and calendar syncing and Einstein Send Time Optimization to determine when customers are most likely to open emails.

Most users find Starter Suite valuable for businesses without dedicated Salesforce administrators, and they appreciate quick customer support. However, like other Salesforce systems, Starter Suite can be challenging to learn initially, and costs can rise with added features.

Starter Suite includes 10.2 GB of data storage and integrates seamlessly with Gmail, LinkedIn and Outlook right out of the box. While the basic package is affordably priced at $25, potential users should be aware that add-ons can increase costs. Also, upgrading to the Pro Suite comes with a steep price jump to $100 per user per month.

**Our Research Process for Salesforce Starter Suite**

I signed up for a free trial of Salesforce Starter Suite and downloaded the Salesforce mobile app to see how everything worked on both desktop and mobile. Then, I read user reviews on Capterra and interviewed daily users to learn what results they got from the CRM.

I also watched product tutorials and completed Salesforce's Trailhead lessons. To gain a complete picture of what Starter Suite can and can't do, I used in-depth research provided by our analysts and compared it with other CRMs like [Bigin](https://www.selecthub.com/p/crm-software/bigin/), [Pipedrive](https://www.selecthub.com/p/crm-software/pipedrive/) and [Freshsales](https://www.selecthub.com/p/crm-software/freshsales/).

### Synopsis of User Ratings and Reviews

Based on an aggregate of Starter Suite reviews taken from the sources above, the following pros & cons have been curated by a SelectHub Market Analyst.

#### Pros

- **Easy Implementation:** Starter Suite is easy to implement, making it a good choice for businesses that want to get up and running quickly.
- **Simple Reporting:** The reporting features are not overly complicated, and it’s easy to generate reports without extensive training.
- **Quick Support:** The customer support team is very responsive, providing timely assistance when users face issues.

**What Users Like**

- **Set Up:** “Right off the bat, I love how fast it sets up. We’re talking under an hour from sign-up to tracking our first Nuova Simonelli order — huge for a small team juggling refurb jobs and customer calls.” - [Wes Wakefield](https://www.linkedin.com/in/wwakefield), founder of [Pro Coffee Gear](https://procoffeegear.com/)

#### Cons

- **Difficult To Learn:** Despite being generally user-friendly, it can still have a learning curve, particularly when trying to grasp all of its features.
- **Growing Cost:** While the base price might seem reasonable, the cost of Starter Suite can become pricier for small businesses when adding on features and integrations.
- **System Delays:** Users sometimes experience performance issues, such as the system running slowly or occasionally freezing up.

**What Users Dislike**

- **Pricing:** “While the pricing starts fairly at $25/user/month, adding features we needed, such as advanced forecasting, drove our effective price up to $42/user/month.” - [Harpreet Saini](https://www.linkedin.com/in/harpreet-saini-9715a9a3), CEO at We Buy Houses in Metro Detroit
- **Integrations:** “Since we rely on multiple data sources, legal reports, eCommerce platform tracking and brand authentication databases, we found Starter Suite lacking in integration capabilities with some of our more specialized tools.” - [Daniel Shapiro](https://www.linkedin.com/in/danielbshapiro/), Senior VP of Brand Relationships & Strategic Partnerships at Red Points

#### Researcher's Summary:

Salesforce Starter Suite is a great out-of-the-box solution for an entry-level CRM. Compared to Sales Cloud, it’s much simpler to use — just like the name suggests. Interestingly, the Advanced Settings area looks a lot like a regular Salesforce instance.

It’s perfect for small to medium companies without a dedicated Salesforce admin, as the basic functions can operate on a self-service model. If you have less than 10 people across sales, service and marketing, this could work for you. Also, you don't have to worry about outgrowing the system since you can just upgrade to Pro Suite if needed.

The basic features are pretty affordable, but add-ons cost extra. There's also a limit on how many users you can have before paying more. The mobile app for Starter Suite and Sales Cloud is the same, with all the core features for managing leads, contacts, accounts and sales opportunities.

Creating simple reports is quick and easy with only minimal training. You can sort tables by column and apply filters, but only one column at a time. I wish I could filter multiple columns at once, like in Excel.

Users mention that the support team is generally responsive and helps them set up the sales funnel and lead tracking with ease. One tip I'd give — set up your dashboard before using the system regularly. It can get confusing if you dive in without knowing how everything works.

Gmail, LinkedIn and Outlook integrations are available out of the box. You can connect your eCommerce store, too, but I couldn't try this since I don't have one. I'd have to contact support to enable it anyway, which is one thing that bugs me about Salesforce trials. The AI feature called Generative Canvas was also not available in my trial. This feature would let you ask for custom reports using plain language.

There are storage limits in Starter Suite — 10.2 GB for data and 1 GB for files. I figured out that since each record takes about 2 KB in Salesforce, you can have about 5 million records in total.

While exploring Strater Suite, I had the opportunity to interview [Harpreet Saini](https://www.linkedin.com/in/harpreet-saini-9715a9a3), CEO at We Buy Houses in Metro Detroit, who shared her own experience with the product. Using the platform for 4+ hours daily, her firm saw incredible results — a 37% higher close rate in the first quarter, average deal sizes increased by $2,300, and they got rid of four separate tools they previously used.

Before implementation, her team tracked leads in spreadsheets and lost 28% of opportunities due to poor follow-up. But Starter Suite's automation saved each sales rep 7.5 hours weekly, shortened the sales cycle from 32 to 21 days and increased qualified leads by 43%. Saini especially likes the opportunity pipeline dashboard that provides visibility into their $3.2 million pipeline.

Overall, Starter Suite is simple enough to manage but robust enough to handle any basic CRM needs of a small team. The pricing is reasonable to start, though you'll need to watch those add-on costs as you grow. Another advantage is that you can upgrade when needed instead of having to switch to a completely different system.

## Key Features

- **Sales Path:** Out-of-the-box sales paths and reports help you manage your pipelines with customizable milestones and workflows. Your sales reps get a visual representation of each stage, including key fields they must complete before advancing.
- **Payment Links:** The Pay Now feature, powered by Salesforce Payments, generates links that direct customers to a payment page when an opportunity closes. You can even customize the payment page by adding your company's logo.
- **Email Management:** Design personalized emails with a drag-and-drop editor and access pre-made templates to build campaigns, with support for 2,000 emails per month at the base price. You can schedule emails for later delivery and track engagement.
- **Opportunity Management:** Create opportunities for existing accounts or through the sales pipeline while tracking key deal details at every stage. It supports monitoring updates made to opportunities using key fields such as stage, close date, amount, probability and expected revenue.
- **Lead Management:** Salesforce Starter Suite helps track, filter and qualify new prospective customers. You can create lead and opportunity records that capture important details, conversations and interactions with your prospects and potential customers.
- **Contact Management:** Store contact records containing basic personal details about individuals, such as names, email addresses and countries of domicile. The system provides a complete view of your customers, including activity history, key contacts, customer communications and internal account discussions.
- **Campaign Management:** Campaign templates enable you to create and execute targeted campaigns. Track, manage and optimize the effectiveness of your marketing campaigns with performance tools.

**See It in Action: Collecting User Info Using Flow**

I discovered that Flow is fully available in Salesforce Starter Suite, so I decided to try making one to collect contact info. Instead of hunting for it in the **Advanced Setup** menu like most tutorials showed, I added it directly to my **Sales** navigation bar for easy access.

![Salesforce Starter Suite 'Edit Sales App Navigation Items' dialog, 'Flows' item highlighted for removal, 'Save' button emphasized.](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Salesforce-Starter-Suite-Flow-Builder-1.jpg)

1\. Under the **Flow** tab, I clicked **New** to start making my flow and picked **Screen Flow**.

![Salesforce Starter Suite 'Flows' page with 'New' button highlighted.](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Salesforce-Starter-Suite-Flow-Builder-2.jpg)

![Salesforce Flow Builder 'New Automation' dialog, 'Screen' flow type highlighted.](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Salesforce-Starter-Suite-Flow-Builder-3.jpg)

![Salesforce Flow Builder 'Screen Automations' dialog, 'Screen Flow' type highlighted.](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Salesforce-Starter-Suite-Flow-Builder-4.jpg)

2\. This opened up the **Flow Builder**. I clicked the + button and added a **Screen** element to create a form for collecting information. Everything looked pretty simple at this point, and I thought, "This isn't so bad after all!"

![Salesforce Flow Builder canvas](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Salesforce-Starter-Suite-Flow-Builder-5.jpg)

![Salesforce Flow Builder canvas, 'Add Element' dialog open, 'Screen' element selected.](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Salesforce-Starter-Suite-Flow-Builder-6.jpg)

3\. I filled in some basic information for my screen, like what to call it and what it would do, and then saved my flow.

![Salesforce Flow Builder 'New Screen' dialog, 'Contact Info' label entered, 'Done' button highlighted.](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Salesforce-Starter-Suite-Flow-Builder-7.jpg)

![Salesforce Flow Builder canvas, 'Contact Info' Screen element added to the flow.](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Salesforce-Starter-Suite-Flow-Builder-8.jpg)

4\. Since I needed a place to save the contact information people would enter, I clicked on **Toggle Toolbox** and added a new variable to store this data.

![Salesforce Flow Builder 'New Resource' dialog](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Salesforce-Starter-Suite-Flow-Builder-10.jpg)

5\. I double-clicked on **Contact Info** to add fields for user input. I added a **Picklist** for selecting the contact’s account and a **Toggle** switch to let users choose whether to update an existing contact if found.

![Salesforce Flow Builder canvas, 'Contact Info' Screen element and 'contact' record variable displayed, 'Screens' element list highlighted.](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Salesforce-Starter-Suite-Flow-Builder-11.jpg)

![Salesforce Flow Builder 'Edit Screen' dialog, 'Name' component added with API name 'contactName'.](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Salesforce-Starter-Suite-Flow-Builder-12.jpg)

![Salesforce Flow Builder 'Edit Screen' dialog, 'Picklist' component added with 'Account' choice selected.](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Salesforce-Starter-Suite-Flow-Builder-13.jpg)

![Salesforce Flow Builder 'Edit Screen' dialog, 'Toggle' component added with API name 'update\_toggle'.](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Salesforce-Starter-Suite-Flow-Builder-14.jpg)

As I worked through it, I slowly realized the true complexity of Salesforce. What I thought would be a walk in the park at first was turning out to be much harder. Now I understand why people say Salesforce has a "steep learning curve." There's no way in the world a CRM beginner can get everything right in the first go.

6\. One thing that really bugged me was having to click **Save** after every little change I made. It felt like I was using an outdated program that could lose my work at any moment.

Once all my components were in place and my flow was ready to collect information, I clicked **Run**.

![Salesforce Flow Builder canvas, 'Run' button highlighted, with Resources panel expanded showing added components.](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Salesforce-Starter-Suite-Flow-Builder-15.jpg)

This is how it’d look to the users who run the flow.

![Salesforce Screen Flow, 'New Contact' form with fields for name, account, and a toggle, 'Finish' button highlighted.](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Salesforce-Starter-Suite-Flow-Builder-16.jpg)

After someone fills out the form, it just starts over again because I didn't add any next steps to process the information. In a real situation, I'd need to set up actions to handle the data properly.

I could view my Flow details on the mobile app, but I couldn’t open the Flow Builder since it’s not supported on mobile.

![Salesforce mobile app displaying details of a 'New Contact' Screen Flow.](https://www.selecthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Salesforce-Starter-Suite-Flow-Builder-17.jpg)

This whole thing took me back to my software engineering days when we were basically drowning in API names and the errors that popped up if we didn't get them right. I was following a very simple Trailhead tutorial from Salesforce, but still, it wasn't easy to keep track of all the nitty-gritty details. I now have a lot more respect for Salesforce developers!

If you're considering implementing Salesforce, just know it's incredibly powerful but also very challenging to learn. You'll need patience to learn even simple tasks like the one I tried to create.

Out of all the CRM automation setups I've worked with, this one is by far the most difficult. However, I have to admit that the ability to customize nearly everything makes it worth the effort for businesses that need a complete CRM system.

"description": "Salesforce Starter Suite is designed for small to medium-sized businesses that need essential CRM tools without the complexity of full Salesforce implementations. However, like other Salesforce systems, Starter Suite can be challenging to learn initially, and costs can rise with added features.Starter Suite includes 10.2 GB of data storage and integrates seamlessly with Gmail, LinkedIn and Outlook right out of the box. While the basic package is affordably priced at $25, potential users should be aware that add-ons can increase costs. Also, upgrading to the Pro Suite comes with a steep price jump to $100 per user per month. Our Research Process for Salesforce Starter SuiteI signed up for a free trial of Salesforce Starter Suite and downloaded the Salesforce mobile app to see how everything worked on both desktop and mobile. Then, I read user reviews on Capterra and interviewed daily users to learn what results they got from the CRM.I also watched product tutorials and completed Salesforce's Trailhead lessons. To gain a complete picture of what Starter Suite can and can't do, I used in-depth research provided by our analysts and compared it with other CRMs like Bigin, Pipedrive and Freshsales.",

"reviewBody": "Salesforce Starter Suite is a great out-of-the-box solution for an entry-level CRM. The mobile app for Starter Suite and Sales Cloud is the same, with all the core features for managing leads, contacts, accounts and sales opportunities.Creating simple reports is quick and easy with only minimal training. You can sort tables by column and apply filters, but only one column at a time. I wish I could filter multiple columns at once, like in Excel.Users mention that the support team is generally responsive and helps them set up the sales funnel and lead tracking with ease. One tip I'd give — set up your dashboard before using the system regularly. It can get confusing if you dive in without knowing how everything works.Gmail, LinkedIn and Outlook integrations are available out of the box. While exploring Strater Suite, I had the opportunity to interview Harpreet Saini, CEO at We Buy Houses in Metro Detroit, who shared her own experience with the product. Saini especially likes the opportunity pipeline dashboard that provides visibility into their $3.2 million pipeline.Overall, Starter Suite is simple enough to manage but robust enough to handle any basic CRM needs of a small team. The pricing is reasonable to start, though you'll need to watch those add-on costs as you grow. Another advantage is that you can upgrade when needed instead of having to switch to a completely different system."
