After a hands-on trial, I explored its features and accounting functions, combining my experience with user reviews for a comprehensive overview. FreshBooks truly shines for business owners rather than accounting professionals. Users find it approachable and easy to navigate, making it a hassle-free option for non-technical users. Speaking of the dashboard, although visual, it could be improved. It appeared cluttered and didn't offer a simultaneous snapshot of multiple reports. I prefer getting a bird’s-eye view of reports rather than scrolling down to access them. However, I appreciated the ability to select favorite reports and customize the dashboard to align with my business goals. Creating and customizing invoices was a cakewalk. I found FreshBooks’ invoice management to be one of its best features. Most tools aren’t that big on customization, but that’s where FreshBooks was different. I could easily preview the invoice, incorporate my brand colors and logos, and add attachments and discounts with ease. The one-click invoice feature stands out, allowing users to generate invoices from estimates quickly. Our research analysts also gave FreshBooks a perfect score in these aspects. The customization that FreshBooks offers is note-worthy. Samantha1, an attorney from the UK feels invoice branding is a major plus point of FreshBooks. She was able to create personalized invoices within seconds, or as she puts it, “straight out the gate.” For someone just starting out, it gave her the much-needed credibility. FreshBooks’ time tracking feature needs a special mention. It provides a straightforward interface for creating and managing projects. I could add my team members, choose the project type (flat-rate or hourly) and add details to auto-track projects. Our analysts also gave project time tracking features a full score. One complaint I had was FreshBooks' performance. The system occasionally lagged, disrupting the user experience. Problems with bank connections and other technical glitches disrupt workflows and require troubleshooting. I clicked on **Create New** and selected **Invoice**. While the user interface felt dated, the tool's simplicity more than compensated. I tested its invoice creation feature and explored how to add clients, services and payments.1. I clicked on Create New and selected Invoice. You can also create estimates, clients, expenses and other bills right from the dashboard.2. On the invoice creation interface, I added business details. By default, it includes the information entered during login. You can also add your business logo to create a recurring template, eliminating the need to re-enter basic information and a logo for each invoice.3. I then added the rest of the details, such as the invoice creation data, due date and client name. You won’t have to add all the client details manually if you’ve already imported them.4. I had already added items with their rates and taxes per quantity beforehand, so I picked them directly from invoices.5. The system also allows you to add taxes and auto-calculates the final amount. I assigned the tax type, added the rates and the tool did the rest.6. Once you create the invoice, you add your client’s contact information. You can share it via an email or a link. The amount is added to Outstanding Amount in both the invoice section as well as the dashboard.I like that you can import most information, such as client details and items or services, making invoice creation quick and convenient.
