Mailchimp leans toward small and medium businesses that want results without a developer in the room. The drag-and-drop editor, large template library, and built-in website and landing page builders let you get campaigns out the door quickly. Mautic, by contrast, rewards tech-savvy small businesses and solopreneurs willing to invest time learning the platform in exchange for deep customization.

On pricing, Mailchimp starts at $13 per month with a freemium tier, so you can test the waters before paying. Mautic starts at $150 per month on an open-source model, which reflects hosting and support rather than per-seat licensing. The billing intervals match, but the models behind them differ enough that the comparison is about what you're paying for, not just the number.
