Paylocity is a cloud-based HR platform for SMBs and offers payroll, time tracking and employee engagement. At its core, Paylocity handles tax filing, garnishments, direct deposits, reimbursements — the works. Time log data flows in automatically, so PTO, shifts and attendance all stay in sync with payroll without manual entries.

The platform is self-service, and employees can submit PTO requests, enroll in benefits, update personal details and view pay stubs directly from the mobile app or HR portal.

HR teams can send surveys, track employee sentiment, and run group chats or 1:1 messages, all of which are built into the platform.

The system also handles compensation planning, performance tracking, onboarding and compliance. You can tie review cycles to raises or bonuses, and approvals follow your organizational structure.

Audit trails, versioning and workflows come standard for transparency and accountability. Reporting is strong for most SMB needs, with over 100 canned reports plus a drag-and-drop builder for custom ones (though some users find the process of sharing reports a bit clunky).

It goes beyond just tracking hours or running payroll — you get a unified system that ties together recruiting, onboarding, learning, scheduling, benefits, performance and real-time people analytics.

Our analysts gave it a perfect 100 for security and compliance, expense management, dashboards, and reporting — let’s take a look at what else I turned up.Paycom offers a variety of features designed to streamline payroll and HR processes for both employees and employers.One such capability is its ability to detect errors, such as missed or duplicate time punches. Employees can correct these issues directly through the app, providing a simple and efficient way to address discrepancies.Staying on top of payroll would be a breeze if you could see into the future, and while Paycom isn’t a crystal ball, it does help ease last-minute, unexpected changes with 24/7 access to payroll information. I like being able to manage my finances and time whenever needed.The app’s “My Pay” section, located at the top, gives employees easy access to pending tasks, such as unsubmitted expenses, pending benefits enrollment and time card approvals. Paycom’s Beti is another standout feature.
