Verify visits at the point of care while eliminating potential fraud and ensuring compliance. Use a color-coded calendar to plan time and enable a native feature via the built-in timing log to ensure visits don’t overlap.
* **Patient Intake:** Admit patients via referrals, view payers and confirm eligibility. Add diagnosis and map to the MO questions to see if it follows the PDGM payment model. Include advanced directives. Save time on admin work by moving patients into a pending patient status, where you can start adding consent forms and other patient information, like pictures. AxisCare is a strong fit if you want home care software that’s both feature-rich and easy for staff to adopt. It’s built for agencies that need to manage scheduling, caregiver compliance, billing and communication in one place, without drowning in admin work.

From the get-go, it offers incredibly robust customization options, so you can create custom forms to populate fields in patient profiles without any programming. Additionally, I liked how the pre-set geofencing rules and custom ADLs promote accountability for clocking in and out via the mobile app.

I was happy to see that the real-time scheduling view was as popular with users as it was with me. I loved the attribute matching score – something that keeps both clients and caregivers happy – with the nice bonus of filters, synced date and color-coded statuses so you can see and fill open slots without scheduling conflicts.

Mobile accessibility is a huge selling point with home health software, however, a native app isn’t always the priority. I was impressed by the importance AxisCare places on its app, both in terms of capability and UX. It was obvious they had caregiver insights when they put in features like multiple account switching and visit creation.

On the billing and claims side of things, I thought it was wise that AxisCare didn’t spread themselves too thin and instead offered native integration with Waystar and Change Healthcare to manage clearinghouse operations.

User reviews mentioned lags and a bit of a learning curve when starting, but were also quick to praise the customer support team for quick, helpful responses. The cost was another complaint for smaller agencies.

Overall, I’d say AxisCare makes for a great solution for agencies that require extensive customizations with support assistance, built-in EVV or multi-location management and don’t mind the price tag.

Our analysts scored the solution highly for point of care management, PDGM, reporting and dashboards, and security capabilities.

Users appreciate its strong functionality, live updates and customer support, but think the limited customization options and upgrade costs are significant downsides. **My Research**

Before getting into the behemoth that is home health care software, I set out the criteria I would use to evaluate the software. Although the perfect solution looks different to everyone, there are a few essential tenets. Here’s what I was looking for:

* **Ease of Use:** I wanted to choose user-friendly and intuitive solutions, without too much of a learning curve, especially for staff with different levels of technical proficiency.
* **Comprehensive Feature Set:** Assuming home health agencies are looking for an all-in-one solution, I looked for systems with basic features like patient intake, scheduling, documentation, billing and reporting.
* **Integration Capabilities:** It’s not uncommon for agencies to have more than one solution. At a basic level, I thought the best systems should integrate with common healthcare solutions like [EHR](https://www.selecthub.com/c/ehr-software/), [EVV](https://www.selecthub.com/c/evv-software/) and [pharmacy software](https://www.selecthub.com/c/pharmacy-software/) and have API access for custom integrations.
* **Scalability:** As patients increase and agencies possibly evolve into multi-site organizations, the software should grow alongside them. I didn’t want agencies to have to scrap their old solution if expansion was on the horizon.
* **Accessibility:** On-site visits mean mobile and offline accessibility are paramount for caregivers to communicate with back-office staff and view up-to-date patient records. All the solutions on this list offer native iOS and Android apps, an offline mode and mobile document access.
* **Compliance and Security:** Last (but certainly not least), I narrowed down solutions that were fully HIPAA compliant and offered a secure interchange of health information data across systems and devices. All systems provide an audit trail and role-based access.
