 Raiser's Edge NXT is trying to bridge old and new — sometimes successfully, sometimes not. While I haven't had hands-on experience with the platform myself, in my research, I found several notable aspects that potential users should consider.The software handles online giving very well, streamlining the gift approval process and ensuring the duplicate detection feature works nicely. The SKY API capabilities and tile creation options give good flexibility for customization.Quick access to complete constituent profiles and action-type dropdowns for tracking communications is useful for maintaining donor relationships. I also found the custom fields feature promising, as it offers good adaptability for different organizational needs.When looking into how organizations actually use RENXT in practice, I found the story of Texas Southern University, which implemented Raiser's Edge NXT with Financial Edge NXT. In 2024, the university saw tremendous improvements in events management, where a single weekend achieved 400% growth in revenue and brought in 3,000 new constituents compared to their previous average of 500.The integration helped them better manage donor relationships through improved analytics and marketing tools. Staff could access information more easily through self-service options, while the advancement team used the software's wealth rating capabilities to better target potential donors.I appreciate that RENXT maintains a hybrid approach, allowing organizations to use both the modern cloud interface and the traditional database view. This could be helpful for teams transitioning from older systems or requiring access to more detailed data.But my primary concern centers around the apparent disconnect between the database view and web interface. From my research, it's clear that users often struggle with this dual system — what works in one view might be completely different or unavailable in the other. The database view seems to suffer from an outdated, unintuitive interface that requires extensive training to navigate effectively.I'm also worried about the limited functionality in several key areas. The volunteer management capabilities are limited, with new information only being addable through the database view. The built-in tools for email marketing, reporting and analytics lag behind competitors, requiring users to invest additionally in third-party solutions.RENXT’s successful implementation requires significant professional guidance. While this isn't necessarily a negative point, potential users need to understand that they can't simply purchase and start using the software without proper setup and training. Small teams might feel overwhelmed by the platform's extensive capabilities and struggle to utilize its full potential.I believe RENXT represents a platform in transition — one foot in modern cloud-based functionality and another in legacy systems. While it offers core fundraising operations and donor management features, organizations should consider their technical requirements and resources before committing.Even though they offer reliable customer service, users may face implementation challenges and possibly need to supplement the platform with additional tools for complete functionality.

 After analyzing its features, I find GiveSmart to be a capable fundraising software. While I haven't tested the platform personally, my research into user feedback, case studies and SelectHub’s analyst data gave me a clear understanding of its strengths and limitations.The software excels in event management and auction functionality. Users like its silent auction capabilities, text notification system and multi-user access for volunteers. The ability to create event-specific websites with integrated ticket sales and auction bidding is a notable advantage. Also, the responsive support team is quick to help with technical issues and provide solutions when needed.I looked into how the YMCA of Greenville turned their fundraising around with GiveSmart, and it's quite an impressive story. They were juggling multiple fundraising tools until their new Executive Director, MaryEllis Petrosian, made the smart call to ditch their scattered approach and go all-in with GiveSmart. It changed their fundraising efforts completely.Their Day of Giving event grew by 400% in revenue, bringing in $200,000 in its third year. They used everything from text-to-donate to peer-to-peer fundraising to reach more donors. By early 2024, they were running all five of their fundraising events through GiveSmart, making it way easier to manage donor info, reports and payments in one place. They now handle over 3,000 donors annually, proving that sometimes less really is more when it comes to fundraising tools.Still, GiveSmart has its limitations. It’s struggling with technological gaps, such as the lack of tap-to-pay technology and issues with outdated iPad equipment used at events. Users have also reported problems with credit card swiping failures, which can be bothersome during events.The pricing structure is relatively expensive compared to competitors offering similar features, and the need to purchase additional training beyond the annual subscription is a bit too much. I find this problematic, given the steep learning curve. However, some users found the pricing reasonable. In the end, it depends on your budget and requirements.While GiveSmart offers three platforms (Donor CRM, Fundraise and Events), they don't work together seamlessly. There’s a user demand for Venmo integration, which is currently unavailable.Users also have trouble getting clean reports — data shows up multiple times, you can't track donations by campaigns, and you have to manually calculate credit card fees since the platform doesn’t clearly show them for each transaction. Plus, you can’t see donations and fees together in one report.Customization is also not a strength of GiveSmart. Its basic form fields, limited email/text customization options and few landing page design choices often result in less professional-looking outputs. Data management could also be improved — extracting data to spreadsheets is cumbersome, particularly the 'Manage Columns' feature.In my assessment, GiveSmart is best for organizations primarily focused on event-based fundraising, especially those running multiple events with auction components. Organizations seeking complete donor engagement across all formats might find the platform limiting.It needs improvements in customization, integration capabilities and technical reliability to justify its pricing and serve as a comprehensive fundraising solution. I recommend that potential users thoroughly evaluate their specific needs against these findings.

People love that they can quickly set up fundraising pages and get their databases running without feeling overwhelmed.The database is solid, allowing users to perform all sorts of actions like adding personal notes about donors, connecting different households and tracking relationships. Sending emails, creating campaigns and keeping track of donor interactions is also easy. Organizations rely on these features daily to talk to their supporters.Reporting is another strong point. The software gives you tons of options to create reports and slice your data in pretty much any way you want. Users can get up-to-the-minute looks at patron engagement and donations, which is very valuable for fundraising teams.But it's not all perfect. Some volunteers find the database intimidating. The advanced search tool can be tricky — sometimes, you have to try multiple fields just to find the information you're looking for. Product improvements, while generally great, sometimes mean users have to relearn parts of the system.The software offers some valuable features that set it apart. These include a document repository, donor wealth screening, live-streaming event capabilities, a volunteer timeline and even a Radius Search tool to find specific donor segments. Neon One also has a mobile app, Neon Moves, which uses AI to analyze and summarize donor information.When it comes to their website-building solution, Neon Inspire offers an easy-to-use platform that allows fundraisers to quickly create campaign pages. While the tools are straightforward, adding plug-ins is tricky. It may lack the depth of customization that some organizations need.Customer service is mostly great, though some users mention that response times can be slow sometimes. The Neon Academy provides thorough training, which helps users get the most out of the software.Performance arts organizations that integrated Neon CRM with Neon One’s Arts People found it helpful for connecting their retail and fundraising work. It allowed them to track patron interactions across different types of events and donations. Arts People is designed specifically for performance art associations. The software streamlines event registrations, simplifies the creation of system transaction emails, and offers smooth Neon Pay integration for processing online donations.However, there are some areas for improvement. For instance, Neon Pay doesn't fully support international users yet, which can be bothersome for CRM users.
