**Bottom line:** Lucidchart and Visio both handle serious diagramming, but they fit different setups. Pick Lucidchart if you want a cloud-first tool your whole team can jump into from any browser. Pick Visio if you're already deep in the Microsoft ecosystem and need tight Word, Excel, and PowerPoint hooks.

Lucidchart starts at $7.95 per month with a free tier, while Visio starts at $6 per user per month. The prices look close, but Lucidchart's freemium plan gives you a way to try it before you pay. Visio's subscription model can feel pricey once you add seats, especially for smaller teams.

For tech stack fit, Visio plugs straight into Microsoft 365 and links diagrams to Excel, SQL Server, and SharePoint. Lucidchart goes wider with Asana, Jira, Slack, Google Workspace, and Office, so it works whether your team lives in Google or Microsoft tools.

On day-to-day use, users find Lucidchart's drag-and-drop interface quick to pick up, though complex charts get harder to edit as they grow. Visio packs a deeper shape library and VBA automation, but reviewers note the interface feels dated and slows down with heavy diagrams.
