Both are enterprise-grade backup platforms that handle hybrid and multi-cloud environments, but they differ in where they shine. NetBackup has strong multi-OS and VM coverage. It works well with VMware and Hyper-V and handles data across Windows, Linux and Unix. Commvault Cloud takes a more unified approach, managing on-premises, cloud and SaaS workloads from a single console, with AI that proactively flags threats before they become incidents. On compliance, Commvault Cloud has an edge. It includes audit trails, eDiscovery and legal hold out of the box, which matters in regulated industries like healthcare and finance. NetBackup supports data retention policies and secure deletion, but doesn't go as deep on legal and discovery tooling. Both require a quote for pricing, billed annually.
