 What we dislike about Freshsales and Neon CRM:

**Feature Constraints:** Some users report that Freshsales has a limited feature set, including the lack of order history, search history and styling options for forms. It might not meet the advanced requirements of larger or more complex sales organizations. 

**Limited Customization:** Neon CRM offers some configurability, but users express frustration with the lack of deep customization options, especially for complex workflows or unique data tracking needs. This can lead to workarounds and inefficiencies for nonprofits with specific requirements.

**Reporting Challenges:** While Neon CRM provides reporting tools, users often find them cumbersome and lacking in flexibility. Generating custom reports or extracting specific data insights can be difficult, hindering data-driven decision-making for nonprofits.

###  Our Review

 I tested out Freshsales’ Enterprise plan to get a close look at what this CRM can really do. The platform feels like it's built with product sales in mind, which means you’ll have to get creative about fitting a service-based business into its framework.Freshsales gave me exactly what I needed without drowning me in unnecessary features. Making calls and sending SMS directly from the system was super convenient, and the dialer tracked everything automatically, which saved me tons of time.But it wasn't all smooth sailing. The configuration settings are scattered everywhere and hard to navigate. I found myself clicking through way too many steps to do simple tasks. The online help documentation didn't always match what I was seeing on the platform, which made learning the system even trickier.For task management, I'm used to a Kanban board to visualize my workflow, but Freshsales doesn’t support it. Another small but annoying issue is that the system doesn't remember my previous contact searches, so I'm constantly retyping names.Senior Lead Generation Specialist at Alore and Freshsales user Sampath S said:Freshsales is incredibly user-friendly, making it easy for sales teams to adopt and start using it quickly. It also integrates with other business apps, such as email marketing tools, calendar apps and CRM systems.While Freshsales is excellent for small to medium-sized businesses, it may lack some advanced features required by larger enterprises. The mobile app, while improved, still has some limitations compared to the desktop version.”The mobile app was the most disappointing part of my experience. It ran slowly and had fewer features than the web version. I even ran into a bizarre login problem where the app claimed my domain was invalid — even though I had the dashboard open right in front of me.On the bright side, the web app is clean and functional. I could easily track deals, manage product information and see my team's activities. The platform gives a straightforward way to manage sales without any unnecessary complexity.If you're a sales team that sells products and doesn't mind adapting to a somewhat rigid system, Freshsales could be a good fit. It requires some patience and creative thinking, but it offers a focused approach to sales management that cuts out the fluff.

 Fundraising software can be a maze, but Neon CRM cuts through the noise with its straightforward approach. While I haven’t tested it hands-on testing, my research shows that users find it incredibly easy to use. People love that they can quickly set up fundraising pages and get their databases running without feeling overwhelmed.The database is solid, allowing users to perform all sorts of actions like adding personal notes about donors, connecting different households and tracking relationships. Sending emails, creating campaigns and keeping track of donor interactions is also easy. Organizations rely on these features daily to talk to their supporters.Reporting is another strong point. The software gives you tons of options to create reports and slice your data in pretty much any way you want. Users can get up-to-the-minute looks at patron engagement and donations, which is very valuable for fundraising teams.But it's not all perfect. Some volunteers find the database intimidating. The advanced search tool can be tricky — sometimes, you have to try multiple fields just to find the information you're looking for. Product improvements, while generally great, sometimes mean users have to relearn parts of the system.The software offers some valuable features that set it apart. These include a document repository, donor wealth screening, live-streaming event capabilities, a volunteer timeline and even a Radius Search tool to find specific donor segments. Neon One also has a mobile app, Neon Moves, which uses AI to analyze and summarize donor information.When it comes to their website-building solution, Neon Inspire offers an easy-to-use platform that allows fundraisers to quickly create campaign pages. While the tools are straightforward, adding plug-ins is tricky. It may lack the depth of customization that some organizations need.Customer service is mostly great, though some users mention that response times can be slow sometimes. The Neon Academy provides thorough training, which helps users get the most out of the software.Performance arts organizations that integrated Neon CRM with Neon One’s Arts People found it helpful for connecting their retail and fundraising work. It allowed them to track patron interactions across different types of events and donations. Arts People is designed specifically for performance art associations. The software streamlines event registrations, simplifies the creation of system transaction emails, and offers smooth Neon Pay integration for processing online donations.However, there are some areas for improvement. For instance, Neon Pay doesn't fully support international users yet, which can be bothersome for CRM users. According to our analyst data, the platform doesn’t support giving reports, real-time analytics and donor statements.But for many organizations, the benefits far outweigh these drawbacks. One such example is the story of Path of Hope Rescue. It started as a small dog rescue in Washington with just $87 and a big dream of saving pregnant dogs and puppies from kill shelters. As the organization grew to nearly 150 volunteers, they faced challenges in managing data, volunteers and fundraising.Everything changed in January 2024 when they implemented Neon CRM. It helped them centralize their scattered spreadsheets and develop a more professional approach to volunteer and donor management. By launching a successful recurring giving campaign called Hope Heroes, they now generate $1,500 in monthly revenue. They also discovered donors they didn't even know existed and are now able to effectively track volunteer roles and activities. This proves that good data management can be a game-changer for small nonprofits.
